About the event : Summer Nights at the Great Park
Beginning Saturday, August 2, the Great Park will come alive with Night Flights– a series of Friday night dance parties and Saturday evening concert and dance performances at the Preview Park. Music can be enjoyed from the Hangar Cafe, the Picnic Lawn, virtually anywhere on the festival grounds or even aloft in the Great Park Balloon. The classic Orange County ‘70s rock band HONK will kick off the concert series. Other notable Night Flights concerts feature extraordinary performers like Barry Flanagan (Hapa), and the internationally acclaimed double bassist Edgar Meyer and virtuoso mandolin player Chris Thile. Concerts continue every Saturday night through September 27th.
Our summer programs celebrate the diverse character of Orange County in the 21st Century through an exciting series of music and dance performances,” said Larry Agran, Chair, Orange County Great Park Board Corporation. The Orange County Great Park Night Flights concerts and dance events truly offer something for everyone.”
Eight rollicking dance parties will be held outside the Hangar Café every Friday night from August 8th through September 26th. Featured dance party attractions include Johnny Polanco y Conjuncto Armisted (LA’s best salsa band), Eve Selis (San Diego’s Queen of Roadhouse Rock), and Pete Jacobs and his Wartime Radio Review. Professional dance instructors will be on hand to insure all hips are moving together.
The Flight Crew, Orange County Great Park SummerÂ’s resident performance troupe comprising Orange County based singers, story tellers, dancers and acrobats will be on hand to entertain and interact with guests.
The Hangar Café will feature a menu of prepared salads, light entrees, desserts, and beverages, perfect for a summer’s evening. Guests can enjoy a light meal before the concerts or a drink before stepping into the dance floor. Inside the Hangar Cafe will be an extraordinary photography exhibition staged by the Legacy Project, six Orange County professional photographers who have been documenting the transition of El Toro Marine Air Station into the Great Park.
