Does your daughter constantly talk about her weight?  Is she always on a diet?  Does she ask you if she looks fat in certain clothing?  If your answer is yes to these questions, then you may want to hear what Katherine Schwarzenegger has to say about educating your child about developing a healthy body image. 

On Monday, May 2 at 10:30am, Schwarzenegger will be the keynote speaker at ACT Today! (Autism Care and Treatment Today!) “Fearless Women, Mother’s & Daughters Moving Mountains” fundraising luncheon.  Located at the luxurious Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast, Calif., the Mother’s Day event brings together the philanthropic community of Orange County with the goal of celebrating mothers and daughters while supporting children with autism.

Schwarzenegger’s new book titled, Rock What You’ve Got, Secrets to Loving your Inner and Outer Beauty from Someone Who Has Been There and Back describes the difficulties women have in developing a healthy body image and the importance of accepting oneself for our unique gifts.  

"I want women to read this book and feel that it's ok to be themselves and to understand that every woman can be beautiful no matter what size and shape she is,” said Schwarzenegger.  “You don't have to look like you're on a billboard to feel beautiful.”

The luncheon opens with a silent auction from 10:30am to Noon, which will include a variety of health & beauty packages, trips and one-of-a-kind experiences.   A special VIP/sponsor book signing with Schwarzenegger will start at 10:30am – 11am.   Special guests include actress/singer/author Gloria Loring, who is also a spokesperson for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Association and author of four books including her newest, Living with Type 2 Diabetes:  Moving Past the Fear; Young & the Restless actress Kate Linder for her stage performance in “The Vagina Monologues,” where all proceeds go to non-profit organizations helping to prevent violence against women and children;  Lisa Foxx, DJ from 104.3 MYfm radio, who supports a variety of charity organizations geared toward empowering women, renowned Los Angeles photographer Mary Ann Halpin, whose book Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits features middle-aged women who celebrate their lives; and special musical performance by country singer/songwriter, Stephanie Quayle known for her lyrics of female empowerment and Julie Ann Ulcickas (Mrs. Newport Beach 2010), who has been teaching the art of etiquette to children and adults for more than eight years.          

Additional guests include autism ACTivists:  Doreen Granpeesheh (Founder of ACT-Today and CARD CEO) and Lisa Ackerman (Founder of Talk About Curing Autism – TACA).

During the event, ACT Today! will be honoring Becky Estepp, a fearless mother and autism advocate.  Event sponsors include Sandy and David Stone & Family, Newport/Naples Rib Company, Loro Piana, Reaction Audio Visual and Michael John IMAGE Jewelry.
